After attaining All-American honors in high school and All-Conference honors in college, Tom spent the last year of his baseball career playing for the Elmira Pioneers in the Independent Northern League of Professional Baseball. Following several injuries, he felt it was time to hang up the cleats and move on to his career in art.

Tom started his business, "Wow Effects," in 1999 and has since been painting murals, oil paintings, trompe l'oeil, and decorative finishes in homes all throughout the country. "The people who I have met through my business have been so friendly, and I have been blessed to know them and collaborate with them while doing artwork in their homes," he comments. He especially enjoys working on children's rooms and says, "The look on a child's face after I've transformed their room is what makes my job so gratifying. Their faces just light up and their eyes become so big, it just makes me smile every time. Now that I have two children of my own, I can relate to the joy that my artwork brings to families and their children."
